This was a great assignment. AAA Quick Getaways is a regional guide to attractions for travelers. This edition was the ‘West’ and I was asked to illustrate 10 interesting ‘factoids’ about this area. Here are a few of my favorites illustrations from the job. I included the fact so you could learn something too!
View post →Last Sunday I had another illustration published in the Chicago Tribune’s style section. It is pretty self-explanatory. Personally I had never heard of this problem, nor have I really seen it, but apparently it is quite a big issue. And as is usually the case, the drawing was fun to do.
View post →Well here again is another Gulfshore Business spot. This month the subject is the importance of a proper hello and goodbye. Basically manners. I chose to illustrate this by showing a guy who had just been “left hanging”. See you next month! Â
View post →A few months back I was contracted to create preliminary drawings of 10 new spaces within the new home of the New York Mets, Citifield. This is the type of job that doesn’t come along very often. I was given a tour within the new stadium (a privilege given very few) in order to get an […]
View post →One of my favorite assignments in 2008 was an article on women’s nails.??? Well, it was talking about how your nails (the appearance of) really talk about the kind of woman you are and the life you lead. It was ok, but what I really loved was that I got to use my wife and son […]
View post →This was a great assignment as I got to illustrate an interesting concept in a way that I found challenging. The article dealt with our economy and where we all are in relation. The chairs (10 of them) each represent 10% of our economy and each person represents 10% of the population. So as you […]
View post →This illustration was a great assignment. A bit of research to do, but it is always great to learn something during an assignment. This piece for AAA Traveler magazine was basically an ad for great ‘festivals’ around the world. They include: The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, New Orleans’ Jazz & Heritage Festival,  The Kentucky Derby, Pushkar Mela, and Christkindelsmarkt.   Basically, […]
View post →This is my latest published illustration. It was a great article on the music and culture of 1920s Iraq for the UTNE reader. It was nice to hear something different about this country, something positive. Beautiful things were possible in those beautiful times. Let’s hope there will be more to come soon.Â
View post →This past Sunday, I had another illustration appear in the Chicago Tribune Style section. This time it was for an article on ‘Men’s fear of color’ (in their wardrobe). I really enjoyed this illustration and would love to hear what you think. Thanks!
View post →A few months back I was asked to complete another ‘fashion’ illustration for the Tribune…and it finally ran this past Sunday. Although these are certainly more comic than high fashion, I still enjoy them a great deal. It left me with the question, “Can you ever really be prepared to make pleats interesting??!!!!” I did […]
