Happy New Year!
I apologize, it’s been a while since my last post. It’s been one of those times in an illustrator’s career where all of the projects you’re working on are confidential. In other words, you’re super busy but you can’t tell anyone. Luckily I can finally talk about one of them!
So for my first post of 2020 I’m happy to share one of my favorite projects from 2019…
Last March I was commissioned to help create a series of explanatory/coaching animations for a company that specializes in culture-shaping. It was an industry I was not familiar with but after reading the literature I really began to see just how innovative their ideas were and how effective the concepts have been in developing and improving the cultures of many clients.
The assignment was to update and upgrade existing videos used to teach their concepts to clients and I was asked by the wonderful team at StrategyMuse to help develop the look and feel. Over the next 9 months we brainstormed, wrote, wrote music, storyboarded, illustrated and animated thirteen 1-2 minute animations, as well as corresponding print and digital collateral. I’m not going to lie, it was an aggressive schedule, too tight at times, but the team was so great to work with and the client couldn’t have been more supportive. And after all is said and done I feel great about the work and I’m grateful for the opportunity I was given.
Below I’ve included some of the working files so you can see the amount of frame-by-frame drawing that went into the project as well as a few final art frames from the videos. I’ve also posted a short reel of the animations. In keeping with the confidential theme, I unfortunately can’t show any of the videos in their entirety but I hope this reel will give you a good idea of what was created. Thank you to Morgan, Lindsay, Ethan & Tim, it was a pleasure collaborating!
And a very special thanks to my wife for her creative input and for modeling and becoming 99% of the characters! She was truly invaluable.
I’d love to hear what you think!
Wow !
