On the eve of the 2007 Tour de France’s conclusion in Paris, I thought it would be a perfect time to share some drawings I made at last year’s Tour finale. I set out to cover the event, one that I had only read about and seen briefly on the television in Paris. All I can say is that that in no way prepared me for the spectacle that it was. The crowd was large, and very friendly.
They really made that day what it was. You only see the cyclists FLY by for a few seconds after HOURS of waiting, and the rest of the time you stand amongst strangers…however, it was a great day.
It was the art that made it great. Covering the Tour was the most exciting and challenging reportage experience I have been a part of, and I hope to have the opportunity to do it again.
