Last Thursday night I was back at the Society of Illustrators drawing fashions created by artist/designer Scooter LaForge. Aside from a few photos I saw online I really didn’t know what to expect, and after seeing his work, I don’t know that I could’ve been prepared! I mean that in a good way! His work is surreal, spontaneous, very New York, and simply interesting. Drawing a subject like this is so freeing because of the many points of departure laid right out in front of you. Whether it be shape, pattern, sex, surrealism, fashion, bizarre…however you interpret it, and you may have a few interpretations, you’ll find so much there to work with.
I was lucky to draw along side fellow illustrators Despina Georgiadis, Veronica Lawlor and Julia Sverchuk. It’s great to see all of the different ways they interpreted Scooter’s work. Thanks to Scooter LaForge and the Society of Illustrators for another great sketch night.
Just gorgeous, Greg!
Thank you Audrey. Much appreciated!
I love these, inspiring!
Thanks Don!
